Passion Play ：耶穌苦難劇；宗教劇：以德國南部巴伐利亞地區（ Bavaria ）奧伯郎麥高村（ Oberammergau ）所演出的最著名。

Passion Sunday ：苦難主日：現在的苦難主日指四旬期最後的一個主日，又稱聖枝主日。過去指封齋期最後的兩個主日： ( 苦難第一主日，舊日俗稱掩像主日，因自該日起，教堂中之聖像均以紫布掩蓋，以示哀悼。 ? 苦難第二主日，亦稱聖枝主日。

Passionists ：苦難會： 1721 年由聖十字保祿神父 St. Paul of the Cross （ 1694-1775 ）創立於義大利，以特別默想耶穌苦難聖死為宗旨，並擔任下會（ missions ）和指導退省等工作。 1921 年到中國主持湖南省沅陵教區。後來撤往菲律賓古達描島服務。著名之英文雜誌「徵兆 Sign 」即為該會所主編。該會正式名稱為 Congregation of the Passion ，縮寫為 C.P. 。

passions ： (1) 情欲；熱情。 (2) 苦痛；苦難。 (3) 耶穌受難：亦即 Passion 。

Passiontide ：苦難期：自苦難主日至復活前夕；此時期為教會哀悼耶穌苦難之時期。主教團可規定將教堂中之十字架和聖像（相）以紫布掩蓋，凸顯哀悼之意。
