12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

12誰曾用手心量過海水，用手掌測量過天，用升斗量過地上的塵土，用天秤稱過高山，用戥子秤過丘陵呢？
13誰曾指揮過上主的心靈；或做過他的參謀，教導過他呢？
14他曾向誰請教過，請他教導自己，指導自己正路，教授自己知識，指示明智的行徑呢？
15看哪！萬民像桶中的一滴水，如天秤上的一粒沙；看，島嶼重如一粒灰塵。
16黎巴嫩不夠當柴燒，其中的野獸不足作燔祭。
17萬民在他面前好像烏有，在他看來只是空虛淨無。
18你們要把天主同誰相比擬呢？你們把他與什麼相對照呢？
19與偶像嗎？偶像是工匠鑄造，金匠再包上金子，然後再鑄銀鍊圍起來。
20精於選料的人，再選擇一塊不朽的木頭，再尋找一位精明的工匠，將鑄像立定，不致倒下。
21難道你們不知道？難道你們沒有聽說？難道從起初沒有人告訴過你們？難道由大地肇基以來你們沒有細察過嗎？
22他坐在大地的穹窿之上，地上的居民有如蝗蟲一般。他展開天幕有如帷幔，伸開天空有如居住的蓬帳。
23他使王侯化為烏有，叫地上士紳成為虛無。
24他們剛被栽上，剛被種植，剛在土中扎根，他向他們一噓氣，他們便立即枯萎，暴風捲枯秸似的將他們捲走。
25「你們把我同誰比擬呢？要我與誰相似呢？」聖者如此說。
26你們舉目向上，看看是誰造了這些呢？是他按照數目展開了他的萬軍，按照次序一一點名，在這強而有力和威能者前，沒有一個敢缺席的。
